The Harappan civilisation
This is also known as indus valley civilisation 
It is oldest civilization of India .
According to NCERT
To this civilization flourished between 2600 BC to 1900 BC .
Dayaram Sahni who  first discovered the site of Harappan in 1921.
Harappa and mohanjodaro is famous sites of indus valley civilisation.

the people of Indus valley civilisation had also made test planning for the drainage system.
The main occupation of the people were the agriculture and domestication of animals 
People worshipped many gods and goddesses
Like shiva, trees, animals
The Harappan script was not alphabetical and had many signs. between 375 and 400
The people of Indus valley civilisation ate wide range of plant and animal products 
Fish and meat also
The caste system was not present in the society all people live together with mutual love and understanding
There are many reasons for the end of Harappan civilization

The settlement is divided into two section one smaller but higher and the other much larger but lower
Archaeologist designate these as the the citadel and the lower town respectively
The citadel owes its height to the fact that buildings were constructed on mud bricks platforms

Several buildings were built on platforms which served as foundations
Once the platforms were in place all buildings activity within the city was restricted to a fixed area
so it seems that the settlement was first plant and then build accordingly.
