He Came Back At Thirty.
Sadao Became A Famous Surgeon Before His Father Died
Sadao Had Met Hana In America But Didn't Fall In Love With Her Until He Was Sure She Was A Japanese.
His Father Would Never Have Accepted Her Unless She Had Been 'Pure In Her Race’
Sadao Met Her At An American Professor's House.
They Came Home To Japan.
Their Marriage Had Been Arranged In The Old Japanese Way. They Were Perfectly Happy And Had Two Children.
Both They Saw A Man Crawling On His Hands And Knees .
Then They Saw Him Fall On His Face And Lie There.
The Man Was Wounded And Was A White Man With Rough Yellow Beard.
On The Right Side Of His Lower Back , Sadao Saw That A Gun Wound Had Reopened.
He Was Bleeding.
He Packed The Wound With The Sea Moss.
The Man Cried But Didn’t Awaken.
They Read The Faint Letters On His Cap : U.S Navy
The American Was A Prisoner Of War.
If They Sheltered The White Man In Their House , They Would Be Arrested.
But If They Turned Him Over As A Prisoner, He Would Certainly Die.
Couple Was In Fix
He Was Their Enemy As All Americans Were.
Dr. Sadao And Hana Decided To Carry The Man Into The House.
Even The Servants Didn’t Co-operate With Dr. Sadao And Hana
They Thought That Their Master Should Not Heal The Wound Of That White Man.
Even Yumi Refused To Clean The Wounds.
Hana Herself Washed Tom’s Breast And Face With Steaming Hot Water Carefully.
Sadao Asked Hana To Help Him To Turn The Man.
She Was Asked To Give The Anesthetic If Needed.
The Bullet Was Still There.
He Had Lost Much Blood.
Hana Couldn’t Bear The Sight And Ran Out Of The Room.
She Had Never Seen An Operation.
She Came Back With A Bottle And Some Cotton.
Then In A Very Clean Way The Bullet Was Taken Out.
The Man Was Still Unconscious.
Muttered A Few Words In English.
Dr. Sadao Declared That The Man Would Live In Spite Of All.
The Young Man Woke Up.
He Was Very Weak.
He Was Terrified When He Saw Where He Was.
Hana Comforted Him Not To Be Afraid.
On The Third Day Sadao Examined The Wound And Tom Asked What They Were Going To Do With Him.
Sadao Didn’t Answered.
Sadao Was Trained Not To Let A Man Die As A Doctor.
The Servants Grew Daily More Watchful.
Sadao Wanted The Prisoner To Get Up On His Own Feet.
The Man Thanked The Doctor For Saving Him.
Sadao Examined The Wound Carefully Everyday. The Last Stitches Had Been Pulled Out.
On The Seventh Day The Servants Left Them Together.
The Servants Thought That Hana Anad Sadao Stayed For So In America
That They Had Forgotten To Think Of The Welfare Of Their Own Country First.
The Old General Was Sick.
He Knew That Sadao Was Indispensable To Him.
He Didn’t Want Sadao To Be Arrested.
Because He Didn’t Trust Other Surgeons.
He Wanted Sadao To Operate Him.
The General Hit Upon A Plan.
It Would Be Best If The American Could Be Quietly Killed.
He Had His Own Private Assassins.
He Could Send Two Of Them To His House At Night.
Sadao Thinks About General’ Plan.
The General Had Told Sadao That His Private Assassins Would Kill The Prisoner Any Night.
Sadao Spent Two More Sleepless Nights Waiting For The Assassins Who Never Came.
Finally, Sadao Decided To Help Tom Escape. Sadao Thought Of Putting His Boat On Shore That Night With Food And Extra Cloths.
Sadao Asked Tom To Row To The Little Island.
Sadao Gave All Necessary Instructions To Tom.
If His Food Ran Out Before He Caught A Korean Boat, He Could Signal Him To Flashes.
Sadao Warned Him Not To Take Help Of Any Boat.
Except The Korean Boats To Go Away.
Flashlights Were Given By Dr. Sadao To Tom
After Saving His Life By Helping Him Escape
Sadao Slept Peacefully
Sadao Informed The General That The Young Man Had Escaped.
The General Had Promised Sadao To Get Him Killed, But Due To His Own Illness He Forgot His Promise. (Forgot All About The Plans And Assassins)
He Didn’t Receive Any Signal.
